You know, I love professions! Going way-back when I was just a level 10 undead mage n00b playing WoW for the first time, I quickly learned I could make my own clothes and make money skinning monsters. Of course, nowadays on Kibibi at least, I don’t use my professions as much as I used to. A bag here, new gear there. Yet, do I wish we could get more out of our professions? Heroic, Shmeroic

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors

What makes a death knight ‘heroic’? To me, it’s just another, albeit interesting, class. The word ‘heroic’ is a little misleading. We run instances on heroic, and that typically means it’s much harder, but the rewards are much greater. As far as I can see, it’s not harder, or more rewarding to have a death knight, other than the fact you unlock that class. As pointed out in the WOW Insider article, paladins are technically a heroic class themselves, but they’ve been in the game from the start. Maybe Blizzard should come up with a new term?

‘Unlockable,’ ‘advanced,’ or something similar would fit what this new class is. Because every class must be carefully balanced, it’s not like death knights will totally pwn everyone else in battle. (Let’s hope not, anyways.) Yeah, they’re ‘heroic’ because they are based off of heroes, but outside of that, the term is a little misleading. But hey, you won’t catch me complaining at the opportunity to create yet another alt! ;)

More ‘Fun’ Coming To WoW

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, Rumors, WoW Insider

I was reading this post on WOW Insider about how WWI brought us good news for casual players. Among the news, was that Blizzard wanted to have more fun not related to epics or honor. So, think minor events like the Darkmoon Faire or The Summer Fire Festival. The idea is kind of tantalizing, as it’s something WoW could really use more of and there’s an infinite number of possible ways Blizzard could do this. Read the rest of this entry »

With Wrath almost in beta, the hype is reaching hysterical levels for some players just itching to see new content, updated abilities, etc. Though, it makes you wonder just what will happen to Outland once Northrend becomes the focal point for most players? Think of all of those dailies we’re doing in Quel’Danas and all across Outland… will they become ghost towns? Read the rest of this entry »

Softer Gear Resets In Wrath

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, Wrath of the Lich King

Something else that was discussed at the World Wide Invitational 2008: Gear Resets. To everyone in the best-possible gear in the game, they are two terrible, awful words. When TBC came out, the gear reset was quite huge. The greens that you picked up when you first went through the portal were much better than any gear obtained in Azeroth. WoW On Linux?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, Rumors, WoW Insider

So, I talked about WoW getting on consoles, and how that’s not looking too good. What about another up-and-coming platform: Linux? In the Q&A session, it was stated that actually, yes, Blizzard had a working client for Linux for ‘compatibility purposes.’ Though, of course, they have no current plans to release/support a Linux client. That’s not really surprising though. Read the rest of this entry »

Where’s The Mage Love?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

I love playing mages! My first character, long since forgotten on a server far-far away, was an undead mage. Something about wielding powerful magic against foes has always intrigued me. Kibibi, my 70 mage, has been literally a blast. She’s now to the point where I can solo just about any non-instance content in the game. With all of the announcements over this past weekend on other classes though, is the mage getting left-out? Read the rest of this entry »

WoW On A Wii?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, Rumors

The issue has come up time and time again: Will World of Warcraft ever make its way onto the consoles? Again and again, the answer has been: NO, “Lack of hard drive space, and difficulty in certifying patches. Basically Just that… another problem is that they want a piece of the subscriptions (laughs).” This came from Rob Pardo, Executive VP of Design at Blizzard Entertainment. Is it really that complicated though? Read the rest of this entry »

Death Knights Coming Earlier?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

Interesting rumor on WOW Insider this morning: Will death knights be arriving early in Azeroth? Indeed, DeathKnight.info has stated that it’s a possible announcement this weekend. Supposedly, if you pre-order the expansion, you’d get to play the new class earlier. There’s a few things that support this rumor:

  • You only need an existing level 55 toon to create a death knight.
  • It would be a good way for people to try out the class. (And possibly to prevent thousands of death knights from being created the day the expansion starts.)
  • Slightly newer content for those with no life a lot of time on their hands.
  • Today’s teaser image does look like the Lich King’s eyes. Read the rest of this entry »

New Emotes In Wrath?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

OK, maybe it’s just me, but I’m terribly spoiled on emotes. In The Matrix Online, there were oodles of emotes. (And not just text on a screen. That’s almost cheating!) When I made my way to WoW, I was a bit disappointed in the variety of physical emotes. You would think for such a large roleplaying game, you’d be able to, you know, have a bit more emotes available. New dances are coming in Wrath, but something wonderful has been leaked from the alpha: New emotes! Read the rest of this entry »
