Getting Started For New Members

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Welcome!
I’d like to take a moment to thank you for applying to the guild! We hope you’ll love it here like we do!

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, we’re not a small group of people with a simple set of forums. ECC has quite a few members, and a lot of information spread out all over the place  I wanted to take some time to go over a few things to help get you started quickly. Read the rest of this entry »

Required & Recommended Mods

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Ex Cinis Cineris only requires our members to use two mods which are listed below. Other than that, we will only recommend a few others…

The Two Required Mods

Below are the only two mods we require our members to use, but both use extremely little resources…

RPGO-CharacterProfiler: Our guild requests from our members that they upload some data into our Guild Roster. (Though data like what’s in your bags/bank, can be excluded.) We do this primarily because it allows any of our members to see what everyone can make, what their talents are, their class, etc. (Much more data than what is currently available in the WoW Armory.) You can find the latest version HERE on Curse.

GroupCalendar: This is our event manager. Our members schedule parties, instances, raids, meetings and other events with this handy add-on. In addition to that, it can also track when certain items you can make are available. (It can track the cool down of mooncloth, for example.) You can find the latest version HERE on Curse.

Other “Heavily Reccomended” Mods

These other mods/add-ons/outside programs aren’t required, but are heavily recommended

Identity
It’s no secret many of us in the guild are ‘alt-a-holics.’ To help everyone know how we are, Identity can help with that. What it basically does is stick some text in parentheses before your actual message in guild chat. So for example, instead of ‘(Ambros):’ you get ‘(Ambros): (Kibibi).’ Though, you can put in anything you want, like what your status is (Questing). You can find the latest version HERE on Curse.

Omen (Or Other Threat-Meter)

This add-on is great because it shows you exactly how much ‘threat‘ you are generating in the game. Extremely useful, and just about a requirement if you’re in instances/raids. You can find the latest version HERE on Curse.

Ventrilo
OK, so ‘Vent,’ isn’t exactly a mod or an add-on. Never the less, it’s just as important as it’s a voice chat program. (Yes, WoW offers an in-game client, but Ventrilo is better.) You can download the latest version HERE, and find the instructions on how to connect to our private server HERE. (You must be a registered guild member to see the instructions. Look for Kitcat’s post 12/18/07) Understandably, not everyone has a mic, but instances/raids go much smoother when the leaders can verbally give instructions.

Raiding Loot Rules

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Raid philosophy
Ex Cinis Cineris is not a raiding guild. We are best described as a casual social guild, focused mostly on playing together and having fun. Does that mean we don’t/won’t raid? No! Does that mean we have no rules when we raid? Also…no. Basic courtesy is expected on raids, as is an attitude of cooperation. If yer here for the ub3r l00tz, yer in the wrong place. If you’re here to have a good time with us, welcome.

Raiding rules
Raid composition will be determined by the following factors: balance in roles (healing/tanking/dps/cc) followed by date/time of signing up on Group Calendar; the official raid event will be posted to Group Calendar by the raid/instance officer. The official list of attendees will be posted to a thread on the forums, pulled from the GC sign-ups. You are not prohibited from signing up on the forums, but it will not be official.

For new members: it is highly recommended that you run several instances with other guild members prior to attending a guild raid. This is to get you acquainted with the guild, and the way we tend to do things…and to let us get to know you as well. Raiding is not particularly conducive to learning about yer fellow guildies.

Scheduled raid nights are under discussion but will include a weeknight and a weekend night (currently Tuesday and Saturday lead in the poll). Once signed up on Group Calendar, attendance is mandatory. In the event of an emergency, please try to contact one of the officers - it’s only considerate of other people.

The following addons are required:
1. Threat meter of some kind (Omen is ace’d, KTM is not. They do communicate together, though, so either one works.).
2. Boss alert system (BigWigs is ace’d, Deadly Boss Mod (DBM) is not).

In addition, Ventrilo is also required. You do not need a microphone, but must be able to at least listen to us. A mic is recommended, though…we like talking to each other.

Loot Policy
The following are the Official ECC loot rules (Raiding) for the guild. These rules shall be in effect on all guild runs. Please direct any questions to an officer.

Rule number one: have fun.
Rule number two: no drama. Although listed as rule 2, it is not subsidiary or less important than rule 1. The two are closely linked, as drama = unfun.

The loot setting will be set by the group leader as “Group Loot.” The policy for BoE items will be greed by all. The policy for BoP items will be for everyone to pass, followed by discussion/distribution.

The loot distribution system will be based on Suicide Kings. Briefly, players are put in an ordered list (Raid main). When BoP loot drops, the person who wants it and is nearest to the top of the list wins the loot. Once a player wins something, his name is dropped to the bottom of the list. Players who are not in the raid do not move up or down the list, therefore only those raiding will be moving in relation to each other. The lists persist through multiple raids, with only the positions of the players changing.

There will be a total of 3 lists.
1. Raid main, dealing primarily with BoP loot that is for the character’s main raid role, ie +healing cloth for a holy spec priest. All raiders are on this list together.
2. Raid secondary, dealing with both BoP crafting mats/recipes as well as off-role and resist gear. All raiders are on this list together, but the placement is independent of the main list.
3. Class lists, maintained for each class separately, used for class-specific gear.

Determining initial place on list has been done randomly at our first Kara run on 1/27/08. From this point onward, any new raiders will be added to the bottom of the lists.

The policy for alts will be that they take the place of the main on the list, that is the name on the list represents the player and not the character. This is subject to change if abuse occurs.

A Suicide Kings addon is available that will allow you to view the lists ingame. They can also (and should) be maintained on this website - ideally the website list will be the official list.

The text you see came from our Instance/Raid Officer, Kryjiana

Our Code Of Conduct

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Every member is asked and expected to follow our Code of Conduct (CoC) that is outlined below. Ex Cinis Cineris will be referred to as ECC in this CoC. The CoC was last updated as of January of 2008.

Your Privacy
ECC respects the privacy of our members. Your contact information is used for only that: contact and communications. We will not share your information with any other company, guild, or individual without contacting you first. You are also requested to not give out another member’s information without contacting/asking the person directly.

Exploits
ECC will have a STRICT ‘no-exploit’ policy. This is not only to protect ECC, but also individual members. Remember, the use of game exploits could possibly get you and/or the guild banned.

Democratic Practices
This simply means that our members have a share in the process to choose what goes on within the guild. All guild members have an equal voice concerning all issues. Majority vote will (for the most part) be conducted on these issues. Likewise, if an issue comes up that no one brings to the table or is an unforeseen occurrence; the Guild Master may enact resolution(s) to be resented/applied to the general guild membership.

Officers Are Senior Members
Although they do not have absolute power, Officers are considered senior members of the guild. As such, they do have the authority to utilize certain decision making powers that are granted to them. This of course does not mean that this is absolute or is to be abused.

Respect

All members are expected to give respect to their guild mates, and other people in the game as well. Should an issue come up where someone is not respecting another, it should be brought up to an Officer or Guild Master, so it can be dealt with appropriately.

Issues With ECC Guild Members And/Or Other Guilds & Players:
If you have an issue with someone, it is best to try to deal with those people as directly as possible. If this is not possible, get an Officer or 3rd party involved (ranking member). Please keep in mind that chat
can often be misinterpreted, and most issues can be resolved with people talking in the most direct way possible. Let us not forget we all are adults here playing to have fun. Don’t ruin, or let other people ruin, your gaming experience. This is what the IGNORE button was meant for.

Items & Gear Buying/Trading

People are free to buy/trade items & gear appropriately. Use common sense here, you should want to help your guild members and not gouge them. Remember the person you take advantage of may be the person you need something from in the future.

Non-Binding Roster
What this simply means is that you are free to leave our guild at any time, no questions asked. We would, of course, appreciate a message to an Officer or the Guild Master informing ECC that you are leaving.

Dealing With Other Guilds

ECC is not currently warring with any other guild, and we would like to keep it this way. Additionally,
we are not aligned with another guild. If we are approached by another guild for an alliance or to raid with on a consistent basis, once again please inform the Guild Master or Officers so a determination can be made if we want to form an alliance with another guild.

Use Of The Forums Or Other Tools/Sites
The forums we use, Ventrilo, IRC, hosting services, etc, are often paid out of pocket from our members. Please respect these tools, and the people that provide them. Should they be abused, a member could be banned from using them and/or excused from the guild. Please be courteous. It is an added bonus that we have these tools at our disposal.

Guild Bank
Our members have a guild bank at their disposal. It has it’s own rules/guidelines that you may find HERE. Abusing the guild bank, or selling items you request from the guild bank will have you excused from the guild immediately.

Loot Rules
ECC has specific 5-Man Instance and Raiding loot rules that are to be followed. (Links go to the respective posts.)

Role-Playing
Some members of ECC may want to RP. We can organize a channel for this purpose. You are welcome to role play when ever you want, that choice is yours, however remember not everyone likes to RP so please be considerate. Also, please use common sense that if you go into any “questionable” type of role play, try to keep it in private or in a secluded party chat.

We Do Have Structure

This means that although we are laid back, we must also have a leadership structure to keep everything
organized and running smoothly. The Guild Master, Officers, or senior members do have authority (as mentioned above). We ask that you abide by their requests, within reason.

Required Mods
Hand in hand with the above, to take advantage of our instance schedules, raids, events, roster, etc, we require our members to download, use, update, and occasionally update data from mods & add-ons. You can read more about them and why we require them HERE.

For Ages 18+
We are a group of mature players, and we’d like to keep it that way. For that reason, we request all of our members be of ages 18+. (With exceptions only made by the guild master.) Lying about one’s age is cause for immediate guild removal.

Removal from the Guild

We hope that this never has to occur but unfortunately and occasionally it does. Recurring offenses of
breaking this CoC, can lead to expulsion. Let’s make this simple. If you have a momentary lapse of reason, you’ll be warned, if you disregard and disrespect ECC or the CoC on a consistent basis, it is better for both the member and ECC to part ways. No member will be removed without prior warning from either the Guild Master or an Officer.

Lastly, remember the tag above your character’s head, and the consequences – good and bad – that your actions could have on those around you. As the saying goes … Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Let’s make ECC a guild to be proud of!

How To Get Recruited

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Thank you very much for considering Ex Cinis Cineris to be your new guild family! Where do you go from here? How do we recruit? Well, here’s how our recruitment works:

Read More About Ex Cinis Cineris
Before you get started, if you haven’t already, you may want to read some information on what our guild is all about. It’s important you read through or rules and requirements. After you’ve done this and if you’re still interested, you can move onto the next step.

  • About Ex Cinis Cinceris
  • Our Code Of Conduct
  • Guild-Required Mods
  • 5-Man Instance Loot Rules
  • Raid Loot Rules
  • The Guild Bank

Register On Our Forums
This is super easy! Click HERE to register for our forums. (Note: registering for the blog will not automatically register you on the forums. They are separate.)

Fill Out A Questionnaire
You can click HERE to view the questionnaire. (The page also has instructions on how to complete it on the forums.)

Get Recruited
Now you’re ready for a guild invite! Typically, one of our officers will see your application, and look for you in game to send you a guild request. Many times, an officer will add your character’s name to their friend’s list and watch for you to log on to send you the invite. Sometimes though, that doesn’t always happen. Here are a few other ways to make sure you get recruited…

  • Look through our list of officers and their alt character names HERE. Just as well, if you find any other member of ECC, just ask them to flag any officer online to send you the invite.
  • Join our guild channel. To do this, type “/join ecc” without the quotes. Once you’ve joined the channel, just say that you’re looking for a guild invite. To do this, just type the number of the channel ‘ecc’ is assigned to, which is typically ‘4.’ Example: “/4 Hi everyone! Could you get an officer to recruit me?” (Again without the quotes.
  • If both of those options fail, just bump your questionnaire post to make sure someone knows you haven’t yet been recruited yet.

Getting Settled In
Now you’re in the guild! We don’t have any probationary periods or any hoops other steps you need to take. Once you’re recruited, your status will be updated so you can view everything a normal member sees on our forums. (Including instructions for our Ventrilo server.)

Generally, we may have an officer/veteran of the guild follow up with you in the first week. (No stalking, we promise!) We just want to make sure everything is going OK, and if you have any questions/issues, we take care of them immediately.

Our guild offers a lot of ‘extras’ beside just friends to keep you company. We have a guild bank, regularly scheduled instances/raids, a ventrilo server, etc. However, many of these ‘extras’ have rules that go along with them. If needed, make sure you re-read the ‘nitty-gritty’ from above, or ask an officer/veteran if you’re not sure about something.

Problems?
Sometimes, issues come up. No matter what your problem is, you can ask any officer/veteran, or if needed, the guild master himself. If you’re not comfortable with speaking in the game, here are some contacts for the guild master and executive officers. (Links will create a personal message on the forums. You must be logged in to do this.)

The Recruitment Questionnaire

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Here is our official Recruitment Questionnaire we request each person interested in joining the guild to fill out. For your convenience, we’ve posted it here on our blog, pre-formated. (The codes you see at the beginning/end of each question will keep the questions bold in the forums.)

You can simply copy & paste the questionnaire into a a new topic in our recruitment section of our forums. (THIS link should automatically start a new topic in the right section as long as you are registered and signed in at the time.)

There are only a few rules to us keep the forum organized:

  • Please copy and paste this questionnaire into a new topic and title it by your main character’s name so that we can easily read who’s questionnaire it is when we are browsing.
  • Please only post one topic per person (not per character).
  • When completing your questionnaire, please leave the original questions in so that we know what you are answering without having to reference this master post, etc.
  • When answering the questionnaire, please answer the questions as fully as possible.
  • This is your only chance to make a good first impression with the majority of the guild, so make it count!

Thank you for showing interest in Ex Cinis Cineris. We look forward to getting to know you in addition to what you’ve listed there!

Our Guild Bank

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Thanks to donations from many of our guild members, Ex Cinis Cineris is able to offer a Guild Bank.

Current ECC members can get an idea of what’s in the bank by visiting the Guild Bank page on our guild in The Armory. (NOTE: The Armory requires you be logged in to view the contents. You must also be a member of ECC to see the contents in the guild bank.)

Just remember, the information isn’t always updated, so the best way to see what’s available, is to check the Guild Bank in the game itself.

Procedures For Requesting Items
See something you want? Great! Here’s how our members can make requests…

  1. Go to THIS section of our forums, start a new topic (The subject should always say something to the effect of “Request For Items.”)
  2. List everything you are needing, making sure you also list the name of the (guilded) character you want the items mailed to.
  3. Every item/stack has a flat fee of 5 silver each. (Feel free to donate more.)
  4. Generally, we have enough Bank Officers who check the forums daily for new requests. We usually promise delivery within 12 hours.
  5. The item(s) will be mailed to the character you specified ‘Cash On Delivery.’

Basic Bank Rules

Not too many, just a few things to keep in mind…

  1. ALL requests for Guild Bank items must be made first in the forums. In-Game requests are not allowed. (Even for Guild Bank Officers.)
  2. Items are strictly for guild members’ use only, and reselling on the AH is not allowed. Evidence of any member doing this will be dropped from the guild.
  3. Please don’t heckle the Guild Bank Officers to fulfill requests you just submitted if they are busy with something else.
  4. Using Guild Bank funds to repair items and pay for other items in the game has been disabled for all members.
  5. Money collected is used for future Guild Bank tab purchases and guild events.
  6. Please, no vendor trash. (Though, vendoring the items and donating the money earned is just fine!)

Loot Rules For 5-Man Instances

Posted by: Kibibi   in Guild Resources

Treasure236

The following are the official ECC loot rules (5-Man Instances) for the guild. These rules shall be in effect on all guild runs. Please direct any questions to an officer.

NOTE: The links you see on this page direct to pages on WoWWiki, which can help you if you are unfamiliar with certain terms.

The loot setting will be set by the group leader as “Group Loot.”

Bind On Pickup Item Rules

  • All members of the groups will pass on all items designated as Bind on Pickup (BoP).
  • All plans, recipes, formulas, patterns, etc, will qualify under the BoP item rules. (If the items are unusable by all, donating them to the Guild Bank is recommended.)
  • Group leader will ask for members interested in a BoP item to roll 1 to 100 with the highest roll winning the item.
  • Group leader may prevent a member from rolling on a BoP item if the item is grossly inappropriate for the member’s class. (example, warrior rolling on healer cloth)
  • If no member wants the BoP item, it is to be disenchanted, and the material will be rolled on.
  • If no one on the run can disenchant, the BoP item will be rolled on by all members for vendoring.

Bind On Equip Rules

  • All members of the group may Greed roll for all Bind on Equip (BoE) items.
  • If a BoE drop is an upgrade for a member, they may roll need as long as it is discussed with the group first.

Disputes
Any and all loot arguments or discussion is to be decided equally among the group. Should a decision not be reached on any disagreement, ECC Officers may be contacted for a decision. Their judgment is final.

Special Arrangements

There may be times when a member is leading an instance for a specific item, or has special rules of their own. This is fine, so long as all group members, including those not of the guild, are notified of this, and fully understand how the looting will work.
