Mod Updating Woes

Posted by: Kibibi   in Kibibi's Korner, WoW Insider

It’s kind of funny, seeing Blizzard implementing things like an in-game calendar system and threat meter. It almost looks like they’re trying to cut down on the most-frequently-used mods. For our guild especially, Group Calendar and Omen are two of the biggest mods that we need, and require frequent updating. (Omen, epecially!) It used to be, we could update a large portion of our mods through WowAceUpdater, though now it looks like that’s going to die here fairly soon. What other options are out there? Leveling Made Easier

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, WoW Insider

Do you think Blizzard hasn’t gone far enough to help leveling characters 1-60, or not far enough? For someone who has multiple alts, I can honestly say that I’m fairly happy with the current situation. For my shaman, I’m almost at level 40. Questing with her has been an absolute pleasure, and it’s gone pretty quickly when I buckle-down and quest like the server’s going down tomorrow. Could it be faster? Sure! Though, I don’t expect that to become a possibility until Wrath comes out. Read the rest of this entry »

Want A Bear Mount? Hand Over 20,000 Gold

Posted by: Kibibi   in WoW Insider

There some enterprising players out there who have really figured out a great way to make a massive amount of gold in a few hours: charge people to have them run-through instances. For this post specifically, I’m talking about people paying large sums of gold to get the Amani War Bear mount. You pay upwards of 20,000 gold for a spot in a Zul’Aman raid, and the players get you through the timer so you can claim your mount at the end. Is that a deal or what? Read the rest of this entry »

More ‘Fun’ Coming To WoW

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, Rumors, WoW Insider

I was reading this post on WOW Insider about how WWI brought us good news for casual players. Among the news, was that Blizzard wanted to have more fun not related to epics or honor. So, think minor events like the Darkmoon Faire or The Summer Fire Festival. The idea is kind of tantalizing, as it’s something WoW could really use more of and there’s an infinite number of possible ways Blizzard could do this. Read the rest of this entry »

WoW On Linux?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Kibibi's Korner, Rumors, WoW Insider

So, I talked about WoW getting on consoles, and how that’s not looking too good. What about another up-and-coming platform: Linux? In the Q&A session, it was stated that actually, yes, Blizzard had a working client for Linux for ‘compatibility purposes.’ Though, of course, they have no current plans to release/support a Linux client. That’s not really surprising though. Read the rest of this entry »

Where’s The Mage Love?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

I love playing mages! My first character, long since forgotten on a server far-far away, was an undead mage. Something about wielding powerful magic against foes has always intrigued me. Kibibi, my 70 mage, has been literally a blast. She’s now to the point where I can solo just about any non-instance content in the game. With all of the announcements over this past weekend on other classes though, is the mage getting left-out? Read the rest of this entry »

Death Knights Coming Earlier?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

Interesting rumor on WOW Insider this morning: Will death knights be arriving early in Azeroth? Indeed, DeathKnight.info has stated that it’s a possible announcement this weekend. Supposedly, if you pre-order the expansion, you’d get to play the new class earlier. There’s a few things that support this rumor:

  • You only need an existing level 55 toon to create a death knight.
  • It would be a good way for people to try out the class. (And possibly to prevent thousands of death knights from being created the day the expansion starts.)
  • Slightly newer content for those with no life a lot of time on their hands.
  • Today’s teaser image does look like the Lich King’s eyes. Read the rest of this entry »

The Blizzard Authenticator Announced

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, WoW Insider

WoW Insider reports that a ‘Blizzard Authenticator‘ is going to be introduced at the Worldwide Invitational. Basically, it’s some kind of device that’s separate from your computer. Once you hook it into your account, you’ll press a button on the device to generate a six-digit code that’ll be required to log into the game. Ideally, this would provide not just a layer of security, but a wool blanket since, in theory, it would be very difficult indeed for someone to crack the codes. (Though, I’m sure it can and will be done at some point.) Read the rest of this entry »

New Emotes In Wrath?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Game News, Rumors, WoW Insider

OK, maybe it’s just me, but I’m terribly spoiled on emotes. In The Matrix Online, there were oodles of emotes. (And not just text on a screen. That’s almost cheating!) When I made my way to WoW, I was a bit disappointed in the variety of physical emotes. You would think for such a large roleplaying game, you’d be able to, you know, have a bit more emotes available. New dances are coming in Wrath, but something wonderful has been leaked from the alpha: New emotes! Read the rest of this entry »

Is WoW Being Dumbed-Down?

Posted by: Kibibi   in Breakfast Topic, Kibibi's Korner, WoW Insider

Mike Schramm from WOW Insider asks for the Breakfast Topic: Is the game being dumbed-down?

Patch 2.3 brought many changes, like ‘glittering’ quest objects, exclamation points on your map, faster leveling, etc. In essence, Blizzard was telling us, “We want you to get to the higher-end content faster!” The next patch will bring us mounts at level 30, to make leveling even easier. That seems to be the trend lately, and I have to say I agree with it all the way. Read the rest of this entry »
