With all of my energy going into the Raiding! series recently, I admit I haven’t really been focusing on other topics. Of course, the beta for Wrath was released last night for Europe (soon for us too.) Yesterday, I missed a bit of news released by Blizzard that was talked about before; Achievements. In essence, achievements are kind of like recognition in the game for doing any number of different things. (And I do mean any number.) Tasks like giving 20 hugs, defeating every opposing race in PvP, exploring every inch of the worlds that you can, etc. It may sound stupid, but it’s something that’s just got me tickled! Oh, I’m sure the fight is long from over, (with the appeals and everything), but it appears that MDY Industries (Think Glider), got pwnd by a judge. The judge not only said the company was guilty of copyright infringement against Blizzard, but also guilty of torturous interference. (Yeah, I had to look up that word, too. Don’t feel bad!) At first glance, this means that the people who make the bot programs, if the ruling holds, are out of business since it’s now officially declared illegal activity. What will this mean for us though? WoW Insider reports that a ‘Blizzard Authenticator‘ is going to be introduced at the Worldwide Invitational. Basically, it’s some kind of device that’s separate from your computer. Once you hook it into your account, you’ll press a button on the device to generate a six-digit code that’ll be required to log into the game. Ideally, this would provide not just a layer of security, but a wool blanket since, in theory, it would be very difficult indeed for someone to crack the codes. (Though, I’m sure it can and will be done at some point.) Read the rest of this entry »
It’s officially Gay Pride season again, with various celebrations occurring all month long in June in the real world. Typically, parades, events, and other such celebrations happen in every major city across the globe, and I’ve even seen major companies, like Dell, celebrate Gay Pride month. I’d love to bring it into WoW, but it’s sometimes a very different world. Read the rest of this entry »
So, apparently, Blizzard seems to think that sharing any information about Wrath is, “…extremely offensive and inappropriate.” Well, just like WoW Insider, I have to disagree. Yes, the alpha players were told by Blizzard to keep quiet about everything, but with a game as big as World of Warcraft, who could possibly think something wouldn’t get leaked out by someone. Now that the cat is out of the bag, Blizzard may try some damage control by trying to purge the net of the information, but it will only lead to other problems. Read the rest of this entry »

Poor, poor users of the Glider botter program. Apparently, there was a mass-banning from Blizzard, and the people who used the program are whining/moaning. “Boo-freak’n-hoo” in my humble opinion! Yeah, leveling and farming for various items/mats is a huge time sink, but that’s just how WoW goes. You’re not supposed to be able to just jump into end-game content, or automatically get the best gear available in the game. Read the rest of this entry »
